Tips for a flawless finish?

1. Always start with a clean nail plate by using Orly’s Clean Prep on a lint free pad (an old terry cloth towel or sheet cut into squares is great).
2. Use a basecoat.
3. When applying the first coat of color use a thin coat of lacquer creating a “template” coverage, very light coverage but all inclusive, use three strokes beginning with the middle and then one stroke on each side.
4. The second coat of lacquer should glide on, again using the three stroke method.
5. Finish with the Orly topcoat of your choice. I almost always use Won’t Chip. Flash Dry is a must for reduced drying time and added shine.

What nail Colours are in right now?

(I’m going for the spring / summer trend since that is where Australia is right now)
The main fashion colours for spring / summer ’09 are the brights (not neon but a clean bright). Tiki Time by Orly contains the latest shades there is a bright blue, green, orange and red. All are vibrant and beautiful. In the fall / winter prepare for the more jewel tones of Orly’s Once Upon a Time collection as well as the Matte shades. As aways French Manicures are a classic standby.

Nail Polish Tips

My nail polish always chips, why does this happen and is there anything I can do to stop it?

There are two main reasons that nail polish chips: 1) oil on the nail plate prior to polishing and 2) Wear and tear on the nail. To start with the cleanest nail plate just prior to the basecoat cleanse the nail plate with Orly’s Clean Prep. This will remove oils and leave a residue free nail plate ready for lacquer application. To best protect the nails from wear and tear use a basecoat, 2 coats of your favorite Orly three free lacquer and a great top coat. Glosser and Won’t Chip by Orly are great lacquer protectors appropriate for any type of nail (Won’t Chip is my favorite). Also, allowing appropriate drying time will help.

Orly has partnered with Vogue Magazine to give manicures to busy advertising executives in their own workplace.

Sydney nail artist Danika Hampson and nail technicians Luciana Mattoni and Nicola Fitzgerald, having recently received training from Orly Master Educator Christi Oster, were keen to show off their skills and Orly Signature Manicures were the order of the day at two of Sydney’s biggest advertising agencies.

With the current manicure trends moving away from soaking and paraffin baths, the benefits of the Orly treatment products were intensified by the use of hot towels to open the pores of the hands and carry the nourishing and softening ingredients into the skin.

Hand and arm massages provided necessary stress relief and all guests were treated to the Orly lacquer colour of their choice plus their own 3 way buffer for home use.
